A BIT OF HISTORY

Now, we didn't talk about the political appropriation of this phrase in the history of Italy at Bar Pacco and we won't do so here either, but it is interesting to find out who it is attributed to:
Pietro Zaninelli, one of the founders of the Arditi.

It seems that the motto was taken from a speech that took place on 15 June 1918 in Giavera del Montello between Captain Zaninelli and Major Freguglia, his commander during the battle of the solstice .

Freguglia called Zaninelli and told him that with his company he had to attack an Austrian stronghold in the White House;
Freguglia added that it was a suicide mission , but that it had to be completed at any cost.

Zaninelli looked at Freguglia and replied:
" Mr. Commander, I don't care, we do what we have to do for the king and the country."
He dressed up and went to his death.

Decorated with the Silver Medal for Military Valor, in memory , with the following motivation:
"He was fatally hit by an enemy machine gun at the head of his company's brave men, after having led them three times to the assault of an armed enemy position while singing the battalion's anthem. Montello 15 June 1918".

Now the White House is called Casa Zaninelli in his honor.
