In both cases it is an excellent emergency pillow that has saved my night several times!

Cos'è davvero lo Swagman Roll Poncho?

È il pezzo più difficile da spiegare che ho nello zaino, perché è cinque cose insieme: poncho, sacco a pelo leggero, quilt per l'amaca, coperta e cuscino. Helikon l'ha costruito con Nylon WindPack resistente all'acqua e imbottitura Climashield Apex, un'accoppiata ottima. Io lo definisco l'attrezzo jolly del bivacco: qualunque cosa ti serva per stare caldo, probabilmente lui la fa.

Come lo uso come poncho e sacco a pelo?

Da poncho lo indossi sopra i vestiti che già porti e lo blocchi sul ventre con la cinghietta elastica a sgancio rapido. Quando cala la sera, le zip YKK ti permettono di chiuderlo come un sacco a pelo leggero, perfetto per rinforzare quello che hai già o per le notti di mezza estate in quota. Io d'estate spesso lascio a casa il sacco polare e mi porto solo lui.

Funziona anche sull'amaca e come coperta?

Sì, ed è uno dei motivi per cui lo amo. Sull'amaca lo avvolgi come un quilt, una specie di cannellone che copre te e l'amaca così resti isolato anche da sotto, dove di solito si perde calore. E come semplice coperta è comodissimo, pure da tenere in auto o per le notti passate a guardare le stelle. Io lo uso in tutti e due i modi a seconda di dove dormo.

Serve anche come cuscino e ha tasche?

Sì. Ha una capiente tasca frontale per documenti, mentine e le piccole cose da tenere a portata, con un laccetto dove appendere guanti o accessori. E infilando il poncho nella sua stessa tasca frontale ottieni un cuscino: mi ha salvato più di una nottata. Io ci tengo l'essenziale nella tasca e, quando serve, lo trasformo nel guanciale del bivacco.

Posso potenziarlo o abbinarlo ad altro?

Sì. Ha gli occhielli per applicarci sopra un poncho impermeabile quando arriva la tempesta vera, ed è compatibile con i poncho USGI, quindi lo integri in un sistema più grande. Ha anche un doppio sistema di porto, compatto per lo zaino o disteso per lo stoccaggio. Io lo abbino a un telo impermeabile quando il meteo si mette male e resto coperto in ogni caso.

Come lo conservo e lo lavo?

Per lo stoccaggio lungo tienilo nel suo sacchetto in Nylon Ripstop, o meglio ancora appeso in un armadio, così l'imbottitura resta gonfia. Il porto compatto nella tasca frontale va bene per lo zaino, ma non per mesi. Per il lavaggio: solo a mano, anche con sapone ma gentilmente, niente lavaggio a secco, niente candeggina e niente ferro da stiro. Io lo tratto con delicatezza e mantiene calore e forma a lungo.
