OMNI

The OMNI trigger kit from SMT Custom is an attempt to produce a universal trigger kit suitable for all models and generations of small frame Glocks (9mm, .440 and .357 calibers) for sporting and competition use.

The SMT kit allows for a lever slide plane that reduces trigger pull weight allowing for a smaller reset than other triggers.

PROCESSING

The cage is modified from a Gen 3 model by milling to obtain a profile that can be installed on all Glock Small Frame models.

For use on .40 and .357 calibers it has a suitable ejector, otherwise, for the 9mm cal the modified 30274 ejector is used.

In addition, polishing, smoothing, leveling and radiusing operations are planned in order to eliminate all processing residues and ensure smoother sliding.

The OMNI kit includes the installation of a modified GEN5 trigger adjustable with pre-travel and collapse stop or a custom SMT Metronome foldable trigger which is also adjustable.

HIGH POLISHING FINISH

The HP finish is due to a proprietary process that has the aim of lowering the surface roughness index , especially in some critical operating areas.

This finish appears like a mirror surface and its peculiarity is that it does not affect the original GLOCK finish, i.e. the anti-corrosion nickel plating, except in an infinitesimal way.

THE IMPORTANCE OF DISTRIBUTION

Trigger operation is closely related to the conscious use of the weapon system, especially in GLOCK models. Many shooters tend to think of the trigger pull system as a single action, but in reality this is not the case. By design, Glocks adopt a double action system with a peak.

The first stage of the draw serves to cock the striker by compressing a spring. In the Generation 1-4 models, only one spring is compressed, while in the Generation 5 models two springs are used: the striker spring and the return spring.

It is important to note that, in Generation 1-4 models, the return spring works in reverse, acting in traction. When the trigger is pressed, this spring is not loaded, but released. In these systems, the return spring is counteracted by the firing pin spring , a balance that is essential to avoid the dangerous trigger failure condition , which could cause an accidental discharge.

When analyzing the pull on a graph, one observes an initial curve that culminates in a peak, representing the complete cocking of the striker, followed by a decreasing peak due to the collapse of the overtrigger.

The SMT improvements have a well-defined goal: to optimize the fire cycle.
The trigger pull of a Glock is divided into three main phases: trigger pre-travel, trigger release, and trigger reset.
The aim is to achieve a balanced distribution between these phases.
In the SMT trigger groups, this distribution is uniform , and above all thanks to the Metronome trigger kit, which marks the firing phases in a rhythmic and regular way.

The Metronome trigger features a repositioned plane compared to the original model, while maintaining the same travel.
This means that, despite the identical travel, the pre-travel is reduced by 50-70%.
