The DD UNDERBLANKET is a blanket, which goes under the hammock.
Ok, this thing about the blanket going underneath, after years of seeing blankets going over the top needs to be explained for a moment.
WHY THE UNDERBLANKET?
So when we rest in a hammock the part through which we give off the most heat (we feel cold!) is the one that is in contact with the hammock bed.
For this reason, even in summer the system must be equipped with an insulating mattress. In winter or in any case on the coldest nights this may not be enough and it is advisable to fit an UNDERBLANKET.
As you can also see from the image , the UNDERBLANKET remains soft and insulating , therefore preventing the dispersion of our heat into the environment.
AND THE SLEEPING BAG?
When you lie down inside a sleeping bag you compress all the fibers of the lower part (yes, even if you weigh less than me!) and this causes the air to escape, compromising its insulating function.
You will still need the sleeping bag with this setup, but it will work for your upper body, while underneath you will have the UNDERBLANKET.
HOW IS AN UNDERBLANKET MADE?
As you can see from the diagram, the DD UNDERBLANKET has several anchor points with aluminum carabiners and bungee cords to take place under your hammock.
You will also find thread lock sliders to tighten the elastic cords and configure it as a cradle. Don't you feel sleepy already?
