TRI-AD LOCK SYSTEM

Cold Steel is perhaps best known for its invention of the Tri-Ad lock , which has been proven through rigorous torture testing to be the most secure folding knife locking system on the market. Designed by the genius of Andrew Demko, it resists up to 360 kg of pressure!

1. The blade rests on the solid stop pin, which transmits the force applied to it to the frame.
2. There is extra space to allow the balance wheel to fall deeper into the notch, to compensate for the effects of time and wear.
3. The entire surface of the block and the blade tang fit together flush. The slightly angled block tends to force the block inward under pressure rather than outward, thus better locking the blade under stress.
4. The balance wheel pivot hole is made with extra space on both sides to allow for self-adjustment over time.

STOP PIN

It distributes the load of all positive and negative vertical pressures on the block system.
The pin receives all the positive pressure , which comes from the cutting edge, and transfers it to the handle frame where it can be effectively absorbed.
Negative pressures produced by unusual activities such as leveraging, drilling, digging, etc. are instead distributed because the pin receives the forward pressure and transfers it to the sleeves that protect the block from failure .

SELF-REGULATION

The Tri-Ad Lock system, in addition to protecting the mechanism from lint accumulation, requires very little maintenance.
Designed to self-adjust, as parts begin to wear over time, the Tri-Ad's design will allow it to adjust so that the locking bar always fits deeply between the detent pin and the notch in the tang.
This way you have a very safe and secure locking in the long term.
