A beautiful knife with wooden handle and ratchet closure!
Suitable for all outdoor activities, it is also excellent as a hunting knife for skinning and filleting.
THE BLADE
For a knife the blade is fundamental, especially in the outdoor field, for this reason for the Ibex great importance was given to the choice of steels.
The blade, made of stainless steel , is based on a historical form made in ancient southern Arabia, the Hadhramaut .
It resembles a modified sheepfoot profile with a noticeably thinner toe box while the rear is straight and only slightly curved towards the toe.
This makes the blade very stable during use.
HANDLE
When designing the Ibex it was decided to make it an elegant knife suitable for any occasion.
This is achieved through the different possibilities of the handle , all strictly in wood and with different characteristics of elasticity and resistance.
From top to bottom they are:

1 - Smoked oak A modified wood that turns brown to black when exposed to ammonia. Highly resilient and weather resistant. Striking appearance and a sustainable alternative to Ebony. |
2 - Black Walnut It is called black walnut but it is not of the same family. It has a fine and straight grain structure with dark and light spots of uniform hardness. |
3 - Plum Coming from old orchards it is hard, durable and water resistant . The grains fade from light brown to dark purple. |

4 - Olive tree Originating from the Mediterranean, the colour ranges from bright yellow to orange to light brown with dark, vivid streaks. |

5 - Beech Modified by heating in the absence of oxygen, this aging process makes it resistant to the elements and unassailable by microorganisms and insects. Chocolate colored , it gives off a caramel-like odor. |
CLOSURE
The ratchet lock is time-tested , its simplicity and reliability have made it popular enough to still be used today.
When opening , an internal spring pushes a locking tooth into a notch in the rear of the blade.
The tooth gets stuck and blocks the blade.
To close it you have to pull the ring to unlock the tooth.
