HOW IT WORKS
The Sawyer works with a microfiltration mechanism, the filter has high-performance 0.1 micron holes that block 99.99999% of bacteria, including salmonella, cholera and E. coli, 99.9999% of protozoa such as giardia and removes 100% of microplastics!
But it does not filter viruses and other substances!
HOW CAN I USE IT?
The MINI is compatible with practically everything!
In addition to the 0.450 L case to fill directly from rivers, or the straw to drink directly from water sources , you can connect the Sawyer filter to most disposable water bottles on the market and even to the tubes of hydration bladders to have a complete filter system!
The important thing is to always follow the arrows on the filter, a clue, clean water always comes out of the part with the cap!
HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
The Sawyer MINI filter is rated to have a useful life of approximately 100,000 Gallons, almost 380,000 liters , basically a filter is designed to last a lifetime if kept in good condition!
Be careful not to let the water inside freeze!
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
FIELD CLEANING
When the water flow decreases you will need to do a backwash:
- Separate the filter from bottles, straws, etc.
- Remove the valve cap
- Fill the syringe with clean water
- Place the syringe on the opening where the lid was (the part where you drink)
- Point the filter away from people
- Vigorously spray the water from the syringe into the filter
- Repeat several times
MAINTENANCE FOR STOWAGE
To do whenever you don't use your filter for a long time
- Backwash as per previous instructions
- Fill the collapsible bottle with water and add a capful of bleach/amuchina
- Connect the bottle to the filter
- Open the lid and squeeze some of the treated water through the filter
- Close the valve lid and let everything rest for an hour
- Drain the water from the bag and let all the components air dry
